Fayose to Buhari.....

Posted by Unknown On 04:33 | No comments

Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has scored President Mohammed Buhari low on his 100 days in office, saying he (Buhari) is not a saint many perceive him to be.

Fayose who took on President Buhari on issues bordering on lopsided appointments, selective probing, unconstitutional appointments, and invasion of the Akwa Ibom Government House among others, said the only major achievement of Buhari’s administration in 100 days has been the harrassment of his opponents.

Fayose said Buhari was being praised for mere imaginary feats in office by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and political jobbers looking for appointments.

Fayose alleged that former president, Goodluck Jonathan and those who worked with him, PDP governors and leaders are now targets of harassment by Buhari, adding that “by this, the president is telling Nigerians that it does not pay to be honourable. Dr Goodluck Jonathan was honourable enough to allow a peaceful transition and conceded defeat even though it was obvious that Buhari’s victory was questionable. Visiting such a person and those who worked with him with persecution as being done now, is no doubt a sad reminder of the reason we have many sit-tight leaders in Africa.

“Interestingly, some of those who worked with Dr Goodluck Jonathan that the APC called thieves are now being appointed to manage the affairs of international organisations like the World Bank and African Development Bank.

“In the last 100 days of President Buhari, appointments made have shown the president’s insensitivity to the ethnic diversity of Nigeria and contempt for the Constitution of the country.

Fayose however scored President Buhari high on the fight againt insurgency and urged Nigerians to support the effort to restore peace to the Boko Haram ravaged North-eastern Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the APC in Ekiti State has been told to tell Buhari to make his assets public properly as he promised Nigerians, rather than asking Governor Ayodele Fayose to declare his assets publicly.

Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, who reacted to a statement issued by the APC, asking the governor to publicly declare his assets said: “Governor Fayose has declared his assets as provided by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and whoever is not satisfied can approach the Court or the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for copy of his assets declaration form.”

He said the APC was only raising issues on the governor’s already declared assets because of his critical stance on President Buhari, adding that; “unlike President Buhari, Governor Fayose will never shy away from what he owns, he will never deny his assets because he acquired them legitimately. The governor does not need the easy and cheap excitement of declaring mud houses or herds of cows as assets for the applause of the gullible.”
